The LH-40 Lens Hood is designed for use with the M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II or the M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II R lens. Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of extra protection from accidental impact.
