You demand the best. Our autofocus system delivers. The heart of our technologically advanced system is 121-point all-cross type on-chip Phase Detection AF. It does one thing really well: locking focus on any subject, in any environment. Each AF point is cross-type for reliable vertical and horizontal tracking. The points are spread across the entire image sensor for maximum autofocus coverage. You’ll capture fast-moving subjects and split-second action every time.

The most challenging shot in photography is capturing action that’s quicker than the blink of an eye. Think of the instant a salmon swimming upstream breaks through the water and disappears. Pro Capture Mode nails those near impossible shots. It starts buffering a running series of 20MP images when you press the shutter button halfway. At the moment you want to capture, press the shutter button fully. You’ll get that moment, plus the buffered shots. Because you can go back 14 frames, you’ll have the exact shot you want. The E-M5 Mark III gives you highly precise tracking no matter how crowded the scene or how unpredictable your subject is. Our advanced Tracking AF Mode lets you simultaneously shoot and focus on a specific subject. Use the Center Priority/Center Start in C-AF to track subjects with consistent movement and for rapidly moving subjects. Adjust the tracking sensitivity to match your subject’s movement and speed. Control the AF frame based on the way you’re shooting. If you’re using the viewfinder, simply drag your thumb across the rear monitor to use as a trackpad. If you’re shooting with the monitor, instantly select your focus point by tapping the display. When you enable Touch AF Shutter, tap the monitor to focus and shoot simultaneously.

Accurately capturing your subject is easier with one of six AF Targeting Modes. Use Single for landscape or shooting with a tripod. 5-point tracks moving subjects clustered together and 9-point AF Target is for moving objects like an airplane or an athlete. 25-point AF Target focuses on smaller moving subjects such as a flying bird. 121-Point AF Target tracks subjects moving through the entire screen while Small provides extra-fine, pinpoint focus.

Shooting crisp telephoto images or bright, clear low-light shots, requires a tripod. But not with the E-M5 Mark III. Our groundbreaking 5-Axis in-body Image Stabilization system lets you leave tripods behind. Our system — one of the most effective on the market — provides an astounding 5.5 shutter steps of compensation for all types of camera movement. Take handheld telephoto shots and capture low light scenes without stabilizing equipment. Enjoy more shooting flexibility because you’ll have less extra gear to carry.

Take Image Stabilization up a notch and pair the E-M5 Mark III with a stabilized M.Zuiko PRO lens. The E-M5 Mark III’s image sensor, compact image stabilization unit, and large lens mount all work together to allow the image sensor greater range of motion. This provides for more effective image stabilization performance, ensuring sharp handheld shots on the go.

Taking a 50MP photo is as easy as setting up a tripod and attaching the E-M5 Mark III. Our Tripod High Res Shot Mode does the work. The image sensor automatically moves in 0.5 pixel increments while taking 8 shots in under a second. The shots are merged together creating one unbelievably detailed, super-sharp image.

Improve indoor photography with our Anti-Flicker Shooting Mode. It compensates for artificial light by automatically activating the shutter at peak brightness to smooth exposure and color difference between frames. A Flicker Scan feature eliminates striped patterns caused by flickering light on the monitor by setting a shutter speed so the patterns aren’t noticeable.

Something for long exposure enthusiasts. Live Composite Mode stitches together multiple images shot at the same shutter speed, keeping the images from getting too bright. It’s an easy way to capture dramatic photos of star trails, evocative nighttime cityscapes and moody landscapes without worrying about over or underexposure. Live Bulb Mode and Live Time Mode let you see the exposure level of your image in real time so you’ll know when it’s perfect. The E-M5 Mark III takes all the guesswork out of long exposure photography.

Change lenses outdoors without getting dust on the sensor. Our Supersonic Wave Filter oscillates 30,000 times per second to instantly shake dust and dirt away from the image sensor so it stays pristine.

Shoot in bright outdoor conditions and create shallow depth of field. A maximum 1/8000 sec. High Speed Mechanical Shutter lets you use a large aperture lens in sunny conditions and still achieve beautiful defocused backgrounds.

Add extra drama to your shots. Focus Bracketing lets you create images with deeper depth of field. It takes a series of shots each with a slightly shifted focal point. The images are composited using post-production software like Olympus Workspace. Focus Stacking adds an artistic look to macro shots by creating an image with a large depth of field that’s in focus from front to back.

If you’re into a specific type of photography, you may have a favorite setting. Now they can be accessed instantly. Just turn the mode dial to the Custom setting and shoot. Your go-to settings are also transferable. Save them to your computer with Olympus Workspace and the Olympus Digital Camera Updater.
