Firmware update instructions

You can download the latest firmware updates for your camera online, in just the same way you update software for your computer. All you have to do is follow the simple steps below. You can update to the latest camera and lens firmware via the OI.Share App or the OM Workspace.

Firmware update via OI.Share App

Firmware updates can be performed directly through the OI.Share app for our latest generation of cameras. If you are using an older model, firmware updates will need to be completed using via OM Workspace.

 

Please be advised: In a separate process, and in order to avoid any loss of settings on your device, we strongly recommend that you save them before updating the firmware. You can do this using our OM Workspace or OI Share software. Here's how.

Once you have the OI.Share App installed on your phone follow these steps to update your camera and/or lenses. 

FULL UPDATE PROCESS

Preparing to update the firmware

Before beginning the update process, ensure that both your camera and smartphone are fully charged.
Connect your camera and smartphone by simply scanning the QR code displayed on the camera LCD screen with the OI.Share App. Need more help?

1. Open the OI.Share app on your smartphone and click on the cogwheel icon to access the settings menu.

2. In the settings menu continue to the Camera Management.

3. Choose the option Update Firmware and confirm connection.

4. Here you will see the details of the firmware versions of the camera and lens currently connected to the app. To progress, click on Check for updates.

5. If there are available updates proceed to the next step by pressing Update.  

6. Confirm the download to proceed.

7. The software will start to back up your custom settings. 

8. During the update, make sure to follow the instructions on the screen and do not turn off the camera!
Wait for the camera to show 'OK' on the monitor.

9. You will be asked to restart the camera.

10. Load the saved camera settings by selecting the checkbox and click on Load.

11. Enjoy your updated camera!

Firmware update via OM Workspace

Install OM Workspace on your PC and enjoy many more functionalites in addition to updating the firmware of your camera and lenses.

FULL UPDATE PROCESS

Make sure you have the latest OM Workspace software version installed.

Follow the next steps to make sure you have the latest version.

1. Click Software Update on Help menu in the OM Workspace menu bar.

2. The updater checks via Internet if newer software versions are available. Click OK to proceed.

3. If newer software versions are available, they will be displayed in a dialog box. To apply firmware update, click Continue updating and then, on the next screen, Yes. (If you click No, the update will be canceled.)

4. Carefully read the Software License Agreement. If you accept the terms, click Agree to proceed.

5. The update program will be downloaded. After the download is complete, the update to the latest version will start automatically.

Downloading and applying the firmware

Caution:

This update may take up to 10 minutes.

Do not disconnect the camera from the computer until the LCD on the camera displays OK
The firmware update is not complete until the camera displays OK
Disconnecting the camera before the firmware completes may render the camera inoperable.

A camera's firmware cannot be returned to an earlier version once it has been updated.

Preparing to update the firmware

1. Log on to your computer using an account with administrator privileges.
2. Connect the computer to the Internet.
3. Make sure the camera has sufficient power to complete the operation.

To update the firmware of your camera, follow the instructions below

1. Open OM workspace.
2. Connect your camera to your computer using the bundled USB cable.


Note:

Your camera may display a selection menu on the LCD. Please select STORAGE.
Press the camera's [OK] button to continue.


3. Click "Camera" on the OM Workspace menu.
4. Click on "Update"

5. Carefully read the notes on updating firmware and click Next to proceed.

6. Carefully read the Software License Agreement. If you accept the terms, click Agree to proceed.

7. If newer firmware versions are available, they will be displayed in a dialog box. To see what will be changed by applying an update, select it from the list and click Details.

To apply a selected firmware update, click Update.

8. Read the warning carefully. Once the firmware is updated, it cannot be returned to the previous version. Click on Yes if you accept to proceed.
If you click No, the update will be cancelled.

9. Depending on the camera model, the settings and Mysets might be saved and reloaded. This function is not available for all cameras

10. The update progress will be shown on the computer.

11. The firmware is transferred from the computer to your camera, and then the update starts in your camera. 
The firmware update is completed when the digital camera's LCD displays OK.

12. When the digital camera's LCD displays OK, the firmware update is completed. Follow the instructions and click the two checkboxes and Next.

Caution: 

This update may take up to 10 minutes.

13. Disconnect the USB cable from the camera and computer, and then click Close.
