I got this to help balance out my new OM System’s OM-1 Mark II camera and 150-400mm f4.5 PRO lens system. It also was great to have the additional battery in play when out shooting all day. One of the big advantages too was having controls handy to make portrait shooting ergonomically easy. Just remember to turn the holder’s Lock switch back to Lock when going back to portrait mode or like me, you might end up with an extra 300-600 blurry images of ground and sky. It was a great addition to my camera system but I wish it also had the ‘Arrow-OK pad’ when shooting in portrait mode to make easier on-the-go changes like there was on the HLD-9 holder for the E-M1 series bodies. Also to have a storage area for the holder’s contact cover would be great – it has one for the camera’s contact cover so how about both OM System!

Battery holder is a bit too big (especially the bottom dimensions) for my left hand to comfortably I reach and use the 12-40mm f2.8 pro lens mounted to the OM-1, so I leave it off for that. The 40-150mm f2.8 pro lens is easier to use with the battery grip, as it's controls are further forward on the barrel. However the ability to use the vertical grip controls in a similar manner as the horizontal grip is huge plus. See my review of the camera noted - that is a five star.
