M. Zuiko Digital ED 14-150mm F4.0-5.6 II

I bought the OM1 body just over a year ago. I proceeded to buy a variety of lenses to help in the transition from Sony to OM Systems. I have a mix of both pro and non-pro lenses. I find this is a wonderful lens to take on vacations. The size and the quality of images is quite good. When I get back to my room and edit the photos on my laptop I have been happy with the quality. The challenge when travelling is that having bigger or better lens means more weight and size, which is challenging when out and about for the day. With this lens, I have a simple camera bag and a lens that is capable of providing some wider angles and the ability to zoom. The only challenge is the f-stop, which means you have to adjust in low lighting. I have both the 40-150 f4 and the 40-150 f2.8, both of which are heavier and don't have the range of the shot. Again, I recommend this lens if you are urban travelling or family outings.

I have owned 4 of these, 2-version 1, 2-version ii. My sharpest is my version 1, it also has a wider field of view at 14mm. Samples vary quite a bit. One of my version ii was soft edged at wide settings, the other was soft edged beyond 100m. Test yours first.

A great lens, I used it a lot...but...the mounting ring separated from the lens. I sent it back to Olympus to get it fixed, they just filled one screw hole with goop (there are 4 screws) drilled a new hole and put in one new screw and sent it back. Halfway through my next trip it came apart again. I am not hard on equipment I'm verry careful with it, but this was extremely frustrating. If you buy one, treat it like an eggshell.
