Features that bring the night sky to life

From starlit skies to long exposures, the OM-3 ASTRO unlocks the magic of the night with Starry Sky AF, Night Vision Mode, and Live Composite—powerful features that make capturing stunning low-light images effortless, with no extra gear or guesswork.

Live Composite

Paint the night with stars, lightning, or light trails. Live Composite stacks only new light, allowing you to watch your masterpiece build in real time—without overexposure.

Starry Sky AF

A skill that takes years to master, now behind one button. Starry Sky AF locks sharp focus on stars, so you can capture stunning astro shots with ease.

Night Vision mode

Preserve your night vision during moonlit hikes or stargazing with a live view that remains visible in low light, allowing for stealthy shooting without disrupting your vision.

Compact and durable. Ready for night sky adventures

The OM-3 ASTRO is built for night sky adventures, with a lightweight, full-metal body under 500 g and IP53-rated durability. From starlit landscapes to remote deep-sky locations, it stands up to the elements so you can focus on capturing the celestial expanse.

IP53-certified weather-sealing

Shoot the night sky anywhere, anytime. With IP53-certified protection against dust, rain, and cold, your camera is ready to capture stars, nebulae, and celestial events in any conditions.

Compact & lightweight

Weighing under 500g, this camera is perfectly designed for night-sky photography—easy to carry to remote locations and built to capture the stars with precision and clarity.

USB power

Keep your OM-3 ASTRO powered through long nights under the stars. With USB-C PD charging, you can connect a power bank and continue shooting without interruption—perfect for extended astrophotography sessions in the field.

Capture the stars like never before with powerful in-camera features

Handheld High Res Shot

Shooting with Handheld High Res Shot when the camera is mounted on a tripod will produce composite images in which the diurnal motion of the stars is corrected.

Timelapse

Capture the motion of stars and planets, entirely in-camera. Produce smooth night-sky timelapses ready to export in stunning 4K resolution.

Colour profile control

Create vibrant night skies with preset color modes on the creative dial, designed for astrophotography. Easily apply optimal settings for red nebulae or starry landscapes, adjust saturation, highlights, and shadows, and save your favorite profiles.

Why Handheld High Res on a Tripod?

High Res Shot uses in-camera stacking to produce higher-quality images with greater detail and reduced noise.

By capturing and compositing multiple frames, OM SYSTEM’s High Res Shot function generates ultra-high-resolution images. While Handheld High Res Shot is typically used without support, fixing the camera to a tripod or equatorial mount allows astrophotography-style stacking to be completed in a single in-body process. This approach increases resolution and corrects star movement or tracking errors, resulting in cleaner, sharper images.

Tip:
When shooting fixed on a tripod, set the shutter speed so that the exposure time per frame is such that the stars appear as dots.

Remotely capture flawless night-sky shots with perfect stability

Use the OI.Share app or RM-WR2 remote controller to capture stars with pinpoint accuracy. Shoot long exposures, timelapses, and high-resolution astro images without touching the camera, keeping every frame sharp and stable.

RM-WR2 Wireless Remote Control Release

Wirelessly control your camera via Bluetooth using the RM-WR2 for precise, stable night-sky photography.

The free OI.Share App

Wireless remote control, camera live view on your mobile device screen, and browsing and importing images—even with the camera in your backpack. The OI.Share app does it all.

Color Profile Control

For the final touch, the OM-3 ASTRO’s color profile control enhances night skies straight out of the camera, emphasizing red tones so nebulae and stars stand out with dramatic, expressive impact.

OM-3 ASTRO | M.Zuiko ED 17mm F1.2 PRO

“I always liked to shoot night skies, and having an astro dedicated camera was something that looked complex and too specific. With The OM-3 ASTRO, and thanks to its fantastic color profiles specially created for it, shooting the Milky Way, or even Nebulas, finally becomes easy for anyone, and better for the ones who want to capture deep space.”

Moises Cugat OM SYSTEM Ambassador

Moises Cugat is a landscape photographer and an ambassador for OM SYSTEM, residing in the southern region of Catalunya, particularly in the Delta del Ebro. His passion for technology and nature seamlessly merges into a profound appreciation for photography. The environment of his hometown has significantly impacted him, leading to his preference for fine art techniques in capturing serene landscapes and utilizing long exposure methods.
