Review left for OM-5 Mark II Body Sand Beige

Nice upgrade to the OM5 and love the sand beige color. Just enough computational features to make it a worthwhile upgrade. I added a STC FOGRIP that has Arca-Swiss built into the bottom and all aluminum construction with a small fold down plate that rests against your palm for added stability. So much is in this small camera that it begs to go on a trip.

My OM-5 MarkII is my go to Camera. I keep it a spare battery and a couple of lenses in a small bag to grab and go whenever I’m out for a walk, for taking a quick trip. Can I get lots of really complementary comments about the sand beige color. The first question ask what kind of camera is it and my answer is it’s one that takes great pictures, with my help of course. It’s the camera I am heading out for street photography, heading out for a hike, when I am biking…With a short lens, I can even stash it in my vest pocket.

I purchased the OM-5 Mark II the day before i left for my trip cruise to Alaska. I watched a few tutorials on youtube and read the manual the night before and on the ship. The OM-5 is a dream to use very easy to trouble shoot light weight it really is perfect for an adventure. I carried it with me around my neck on all of my shore excursions. We went on several boat tours and even took a helicopter ride where we landed on a glacier and walked around there was several times i forgot i had the camera around my neck. It is my opinion that the OM-5 Mark II is a great camera for your adventures outside

Had the camera for 6 weeks now. After 12 years with a Canon 6D and all the heavy gear... All I can say is I am impresses with the quality of the gear, the light weight and the images I get using that camera. I know longer hesitate to take the camera with me when I leave the house fearing the weight of the bag will only slow me down.

The OM-5 mkii is a great, go anywhere camera. I owned the OM-5, which I really loved. I upgraded to the OM-5 mkii to take advantage of the dedicated computational features (CP) button, the updated menu system, and usb-c charging. The OM-5 mkii's new grip is a nice added bonus. The camera is an easy all-day carry camera, especially when paired with the 12-45mm f/4, the 20mm f/1.4, the 25mm f/1.8 mkii or the 17mm f/1.8 mkii. Everything is weather sealed. My favorite genre are street and cityscape, and the OM-5 mkii is a perfect companion.

Review left for OM-5 Mark II Body Sand Beige

I purposefully keep my camera body and lens collection down to just the stuff I'm actually going to use, so I sold off my OM-1 (because I also have the OM-1 Mark II) JUST so I could have space and justification to buy this Sand Beige OM-5 Mark II. I missed the size and feel of my OM-D EM-1 from over a decade ago, and this little desert camo-colored monster doesn't disappoint. It's fun to hold, light to wear and what bells & whistles it lacks from its bigger OM-1 II sibling are made up for with convenience and personality.
As its first test, I took it to a Savannah Bananas night game with an Olympus 12-100mm f/4 lens and got wonderfully sharp images of both the game play and the perpetual sideshow the team is known for. The only real downside is the battery, which is smaller and quicker to deplete than those in the OM-1. A second battery is a must for event shooting or all-day trips. But it performed beautifully, as the Sand Beige composite surface is perfectly, lightly textured to hold well in, say, sweaty stadium environments. The color, sharpness and dynamic range of the out-of-camera JPEGs were just as good as out of my bigger body.
I've also tried the OM-5 II with smaller lenses like the 8mm f/1.8 Fisheye, and this is where the OM-5 body really pairs well. It's fun to shoot AND rewarding to see the resulting shots -- with a smaller, shorter lens it FEELS like a toy-ish camera but puts out the familiar OM quality. No regrets -- it's finally good to have a backup camera body I know I'll actually USE.
