This is my second FL-700WR. I wanted to add one for a multi-flash off-camera setup. I like how the FL-700WR fully communicates with my OM-1 Mark II. My third-party flash only partially communicates with the camera. I especially like how the FL-700WR will sync with the camera when I am doing macro focus stacking, which involves high-speed sequential shots with the electronic shutter. If the flash needs extra time to recycle, it will actually pause the sequential shooting until the flash is ready to fire. This is great because it prevents unlit shots from getting into the sequence and potentially ruining the stack. The third-party flash doesn't have this feature, so the camera just keeps shooting and includes dark frames if the flash can't keep up. I also like the weather sealing of the FL-700WR, something else the third-party flash definitely lacks. I have shot macro in the rain, so this is a big plus for the FL-700WR. One thing I would like to see improved is the interface for changing settings, which requires rotating the dial. But you have to have a *very* light touch. If you press down on the dial at the top or bottom while you are rotating, it prevents any changes from taking place. Worse, if you press down on the right or left side while you are rotating, it switches to a different function (e.g., flash power to FP on/off), so you often wind up changing settings you don't mean to. It would be great if the top and bottom part of the dial could be pressed down for cycling through or increasing/decreasing settings. My third-party flash is configured that way, and it works so much better. Overall I think configuring a dial to have rotate and button-press functionality at the same time is a bad idea. Makes it far too easy to accidentally change settings. In the end, though, the pros outweigh the cons for me, which is why I switched from the third-party flash to the FL-700WR.

I love this flash's convenient mix of power and small size, and the fact it could be triggered and controlled for different settings by the OM Wireless command unit that is sold separately, i think the guide numbers could be conservative because i am having too much power on 1/128 about a meter and a half from the subject when shooting wide open with my Awesome Zuiko 45 mm 1.2 lens, I metered with my sekonic at 200 ISO and 1/200 shutter speed F2.5 about a meter and a half...that is plenty of power and i am coming from SB 800/910 which surprised me, i was expecting mush less . Keep up the great products coming i am into this system.

I don't use flash too often for my work and personal use, but the FL-700WR has been great so far. It's sufficiently powerful for my needs and has done everything I've asked of it thus far. I've used it to photograph people at events and for family photographs. The FL-700WR has worked very well when photographing captive birds and those in the wild. I recently ordered the FC-WR Wireless Flash Commander to further expand the functionality of my Fl-700WR flash. Once it arrives I will be doing flash with still life subjects. It is also great to know that the same weatherproofing on my E-M1X carries over to this flash.
