I have had my hood since getting the lens 3 years ago, and take care when in use and have not had no problems. I love the sliding component of this hood for it's convenince and coverage in bad situations. I would recommend this product to anyone.

This hood is ingenious. There when you need it gone when you don't. Literally a lens saver. On my last trip I dropped the lens. What saved it was this hood. The hood did not survive well but the lens did without damage.

I'm on my fourth lens hood because they fall apart. It's embarrassing when the thing falls apart and ball bearings and springs fall to the ground.

I'm a bit conflicted about this hood. I love that retracts and self stores without needing to take it on and off. I hate that it's so fragile. One well placed knock against something and it flies apart. I'm on my third LH-76, and they're not exactly cheap.

I own this lens, its on my mark 2 a lot, admittedly if your really rough with this hood it can get damaged. After years of use with no problems it did come loose. I made a simple fix on mine by simple using thin strips of double sided tape under the decorative ring that holds it on. It worked great and I haven't had any problems since. I would not recommend glue.

I've had this hood on my 40-150 for 10 months now. Super convenient and fast. Daily use, hundreds of cycles, flawless performance since day one. I don't understand the people who break this hood, and I understand that quite a few do. How do you do it?

I got this lens hood (LH-76) included when I got my 40-150mm f/2.8 Pro Lens. I like it so well, I think I will order an extra one, just to have a spare on hand, in the event I should damage or loose the original. The lens hood is so impressive, by the way you can slide it back for storage, or while not in use, and then quickly extend it outward for shooting. The action is quick and sure; I leave it on my lens almost all the time. The only bad feature in this process is, when the hood is retracted back for storage, and you set the camera and lens down (when Not using the tripod adapter), sideward force on the lens hood causes it to wobble on the barrel of the lens; which is fairly distracting! Maybe this could have been eliminated (or the affect lessened) by increasing the diameter of the zoom ring (and possibly the focus ring), which the hood wobbles against. This wobble does not affect the hood’s usefulness though. The hood also serves as a shield for the front of the lens, which probably prevents the snap focus ring from getting accidentally bumped into manual mode! This hood has been well designed with the photographer in mind.
