Olympus 8x42 EXPS I

08/07/2023
When the comet "C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE)" passed in 2020, I decided it was time to buy binoculars, after various searches I chose the Olympus 8x42 EXPS I. In my country there are many hunters, so I had the chance to compare him with others: With the Vortex Viamondback hd 8x42, there is no way the Olympus is clearly superior, much brighter and more contrasted. I was surprised when I compared it with the Swarovski Habicht 7x42 where, yes there was a difference (in favor of the Swarovski) but almost imperceptible, both in contrast and brightness, on this occasion I noticed that the Olympus field was reality wider than that of the Habicht, although both have a declared field of 6.5°. In a comparison with an old Zeiss Diafun 8x30 B MC which has a field of 6.9°, I found that the Olympus has the same field. The only drawback are the eyepiece caps that are easy to lose, because they are not fastened to the binoculars. These binoculars are great, suitable for eyeglass wearers, admittedly not waterproof, but have superb optics.
