The OM-3 is an amazing camera. I had the OM-5 before but I wanted more computational photography features (2 stops more on LiveND + LiveGND). I was also looking to get more control over jpg for casual photography and quick shots of my kids, without having to deal with raw files every time. Compared to OM-5, the AF is fast, and tracking is working really well, with various AI subject detections. The only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is because I feel they could have improved the color profile settings. It's basically the same as the old PEN-F or PEN E-P7. Other brands are now doing similar things and sometimes even better. My wish would be: 1) ability to save the white balance with the color profile 2) ability to set the grain for color profiles (like BW) 3) add color hue wheel (and maybe luminance wheel) 4) add two points on tone curve for pure black and pure white 5) Finally, when looking at my takend pictures, when I click to edit a raw file in-camera, we are limited to apply a saved profile. It would be great to be able to customize again all settings. So I could have my 4 color profiles I use the most, but still being able to edit some pictures with other settings. They really need to improve the concept of recipes and in-camera editing. As a camera made for outdoor aventures and travel, having the ability to quick edit without a computer would be a nice feature.

After cycling through the E-PL9, E-P7, and E-M10 IV, I consolidated my kit into the OM-3. I was initially skeptical—I’ve always preferred the sleek, flat-top rangefinder aesthetic—but this camera’s upgraded sensor and color science won me over instantly. The handling is superb, and it feels like a precision tool. Whether I'm using primes like the 12mm, 14mm, and 17mm, or the workhorse 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO, the performance is snappy and reliable. I recently tested it in a low-light portrait session with the Sigma 30mm f/1.4, and the results were nothing short of stellar. While I bought it for street, landscapes, and automotive photography, its versatility is impressive. I’ve barely scratched the surface of the computational features, but I’m excited to grow into them. Ultimately, this camera inspires me to get out and shoot—and that’s the highest praise I can give. The OM-3 is a great camera. I genuinely enjoy using it, especially because the computational modes are so practical in real shooting. The 80MP high-resolution mode gives me noticeably more detail and improved dynamic range, which makes a real difference in my images. The design is one of my favorite things about it. A lot of people actually think it’s a film camera at first, and they’re always surprised when they realize it’s a modern, high-tech camera. The built-in ND filter is extremely useful for how I shoot, and the weather sealing and cold resistance are a big plus for me since I often work outdoors. Overall, it’s a camera that’s both fun and inspiring to use, while still being incredibly capable and reliable.

This camera ticks the boxes for looks with the silver and black retro style of previous film cameras and has the stacked sensor and sensor that brings with it live composite, focus bracketing, built-in ND and more. The lack of a joystick to move the focusing point and the appearance of the extra screen to pick the spot causes me to miss shots that I would not have missed with the OM1 II. I know this is targeting to street and every day photographers but, once in a while, you get an opportunity to catch a moving object and this camera requires an extra step to select you focusing spot. The subject recognition is very good but still misses objects which requires the user to select the focus point. The other hindrance is the color "recipes". Although a great idea, requires you to upload from a computer with the renaming a hassle. I would prefer uploading user installed LUTS due to the availability and be able to upload using SD card or Mobile App. I know these can be applied via LR or other program but sometimes I like to shoot .jpg and cook the color into the file and test my "straight out of camera" skills by using film style LUTS or "recipes". The next iteration could be a hit with user supplied suggestions but I don't think it will happen as the OM-5 has not incorporated many things users have been wanting for years.

I would give body and mechanics 5 stars, but give menu and functionality 4 stars and App for 3 stars for body 1st, Your body buttons are too small that it fits the people who is only 5 feet 2nd, I wish you can add more buttons on the body or adding stacked dials to give people more possibility to builder their own functionality to their heave scenarios. Like on the stacked dial, the top dial is for Scenarios, and the bottom dial is for technics. for menu - lacking deleting multiple photos at once using touch screen, think about commercial photography which has to make hundreds of hundreds photos a day, they need to select what they need, and delete tons of what they don't need. - I spend 20 minutes try to find a function in your so deep and complex menu, that cost my 400 watts lights 15% energy in my studio, what if you can give me the AI search bar and let me search - the menu is technical based, but for photographers, they are scenarios based, they want to have under the portrait scenario, which settings and functionalities I should set and save. This menu is efficient to use for photographers. for functionality This high-end camera even doesn't have selfie mode, making a selfie is so hard for me when conjunction with Oi APP. For App the App is so poor, 1st, it reacts too slowly. Every time I have to wait tons of seconds to let it be ready, which is so frustrating. In remote mode, the app can't support face recognition, AE lock, high-res mode, HDR, ND and my C1-C5 custom settings I made from camera. That makes me impossible to make a smooth selfie from the App. Why App is more important even than camera itself, is because I can use my 11-inch iPad to monitor, seeing everything much clearly than your 3-inch tiny LCD Screen.

Ive make a living doing action photography on full frame. I got back into photography as an art form using this system and it did not disappoint! The features and form factor inspires you to get out and get shots!

My most favorite camera I have EVER owned. I love this thing so much. Wonderful size and shape. Comfortable to hold. Overall amazing design. I hope you continue with this form factor. Light and small enough. But still powerful. I love the color modes. I would like some of the other color modes added also. There’s a color shift in on workspace. That would also be nice. I like how each C mode can have its own saved settings on the color dial. It’s really powerful and configurable. And it takes amazing photos. Wonderful camera. I love using the 12-45 f4 on this. And the 17 f1.8. But I can still put a 45 1.2 on it and use it comfortably. My only suggestion would be more color modes. Add color shift Create some new film like art filters.

I like nature, landscape,macro photography and a little urban and portrait. I have an OM-1 MK1 and MK2. I already had a Pen-F but it lacked certain skills like a good auto-focus. I hesitated to buy the OM-3 but now that I have it I am very pleased with it. Very compact and very powerful. Taking my time to take a black and white photo, using the integrated filters, is all part of the pleasure of photography.

This is a great camera. It's lightweight, and carrying it all day is a joy. The autofocus is quick, and the color rendering is excellent. High ISO performance is very good. The 12–45mm Pro lens is impressively sharp—stop it down to f/7 and it becomes super tack-sharp. The camera’s all-metal body feels solid and premium. Holding a metal camera like this just makes you want to pick it up and shoot. Using it is genuinely enjoyable. Here’s a tip for new OM-3 users: map the A/B switch on the back to function as the power switch. That way, you can control everything with your right hand—super convenient. Olympus / OM System cameras are practically bombproof. Take them out in snow, rain, or any harsh environment—they can handle it. I speak from experience, having used the OM-D E-M5, E-M5 Mark II, E-M1 Mark III, PEN-F, and now the OM-3. A small, lightweight system like this makes photography enjoyable. Without the burden of heavy gear, you stay in a creative mode all day. The OM-3 produces beautiful colors consistently. Why only four stars? The all-metal build is excellent—except for the power and A/B switches, which are plastic. For such a well-crafted camera, it’s disappointing to see corners cut on just two small components. Spending a bit more to make those switches metal would elevate the entire package. It’s a minor detail, but it matters. Overall, I’m extremely happy with my OM-3. Paired with the 12–45mm Pro, it makes for a fantastic system. It delivers great colors, it's fast and responsive, it can handle any type of environment and thanks to its light weight, it's a joy to use.

I'm a long term OM/Olympus user. I bought the OM-3 as a smaller body to complement my OM-1 mark I and to replace my E-m5 mark III. The OM-3 is a nice complement to the OM-1. It is nice to have the OM-1 features in a body with a thinner grip. However, there some short comings to the design that potential users should be aware of. I would hope that hopefully designers of the next generation of bodies might also think about these things. One is the reduction of buttons in the OM-3 compared to either the OM-1 or OM-5 bodies. I tend to view that with the creative dial, the typical user is oriented more towards out of camera JPGs rather than shooting RAW and developing the photos in post processing. I should mention I only shoot JPGs. But with a JPG oriented camera, I would expect to have a couple of buttons I could use to add effects. But having fewer buttons than even the OM-5, means if I want to get creative, I have to do more menu diving. Second is the placement of the creative dial on the right hand side where you grip the camera. I get this is a reference to the Pen-F which in turn is a reference to the OM film cameras. However, I found it uncomfortable when I picked up the camera. I've improved things by adding a third party leather 1/2 case, and a Peak Designs micro-clutch, but the creative button should have been moved elsewhere. Given it is a dial, you are typically not going to engage it while holding he camera to your face, I don't see why it has to be on the hand grip. If it has to be there, at least it should have a had a button on top of it like the CP button on the lever, where I could press the button while shooting to change something. Next is my long standing gripe about recent OM/Olympus cameras in having the strap holders be triangles through small posts. In particular, the right hand triangle is right where I grip the camera. Please have your designers look at the Olympus E-620 which had proper strap holders attached to the body at the top that does not interfere with gripping the camera. I also have to imagine that proper strap holders would be able to hold more weight (such as the 150-400 Pro lens + MC-20 + FL-900R flash). I would have preferred the tripod screw to be in the center of the body rather than to the front. This means if you put a tripod quick release plate on your camera or something like the Peak Designs micro-clutch, the plate sticks out due to the placement of the tripod screw. In playing with my new 17mm f/1.8 mark II lens with the OM-3, I discovered that shooting in P-mode would often choose 1/15 second shutter speed. In my OM-1 mark I and E-m5 mark III, previously it would choose 1/60 in the same case. Now often times, the reason I'm shooting with a prime is to do low light, non-flash photography of people indoors. IMHO, having 1/15 be the default setting means subject movement will cause the picture to be blurry. Fortunately there is the ISO-A Lowest S/S option (page 168) to allow me to reset the speed to 1/60. I am disappointed that the OM-3 does not have a wired shutter release port. This means I cannot use the OM-3 when I have a microprocessor that wants to precisely control when the shutter is released, for example to capture high speed photos of bullets shooting through balloons, capturing lightening strikes, etc. In addition, I am disappointed that the RM-WR1 (used on my OM-1 mark I) does not work on the OM-3. Granted the RM-WR2 replacement for the RM-WR2 should work in theory, but as an existing user, it means one more thing I have to buy. However, 2 months after the OM-3 announcement, and 1 month after shipping started, the RM-WR2 is not available. That means the only option for remote control of the shutter is via the OIShare phone app. I find the OIShare app not to be useful in some situations, such as recording fireworks. Hopefully, the RM-WR2 will be shipping soon. While it certainly works on the OM-3, I am disappointed that OM no longer includes the FL-LM3 in the package with the OM-3 like it did with the OM-1 mark I. Likewise, it is disappointing that the F-7AC USB-AC Adapter is no longer included in the package. I realize for European sales, it can't be in the base package, but for USA sales, it should still be in the box. I find it disappointing that the manual still lists the USB PD requirements for powering the camera at 27 watts like it does for the OM-1 mark I/II. I have found that the camera will work just fine if given the more common 18 watts of USB PD. I suspect this is a cut+paste error from the E-m1 mark III or E-m1x manuals, which indeed had the 27 watt requirement. It would be helpful if whomever is managing the accessories page at omsysem.com could add all of the accessories that the OM-3 supports. At the moment, it just lists the RM-WR2, BCX-1/SBCX-1 chargers, and the CB-USB13 cable. It should also list: FL-700WR flash, FL-900R flash, FL-LM3 flash, STF-8 macro flash, FC-WR commander, BLX-1 battery, F-7AC USB adapter.
