M.Zuiko Digital ED 300mm F4.0 IS PRO is a stunning lens, easy to hand-hold for birds in flight unlike to larger heavier old 500mm f4 SLR lenses but is seems to be missing a simple but important ingredient. It lacks those two screws under the tripod shoe that prevents it from slipping out of the tripod's holding plate?

fantastic lens for bird photography and other long distanced small and large animals. I will not miss this lens.

Je trouve l'objectif 300mm f4 très bon, je l'utilise souvent avec le 1,4 ce qui me donne un 840mm à 5,6. La difficulté avec ce type d'objectif est de cadrer le sujet surtout les oiseaux car je ne peux pas dézoomer, peut être que le EE1 pourrait résoudre ce problème ? Sinon ce type d'objectif fait de très belles photos avec un beau bokeh.

Habe mir letztes Jahr zusätzlich zur meine Vollformat Ausrüstung einen Olympus mit dem 300/4 IS pro gekauft. Und bin sehr begeistert von der AF Geschwindigkeit und der Schärfe. Mittelweile habe ich eine komplete Ausrüstung! Die habe ich vor kurzem drei Wochen in Panama benutzt. Einfach Top! Fazit: für Reisen werde ich nur noch Olympus mitnehmen!

A really good big objectif. I use it for shooting surf session and animals. A little bit heavy with a monopod but surely the best of his category.

Wahnsinn, eine der schärfsten Linsen, die ich je benutzt habe. Mit dem 2x Telekonverter kommt man sogar auf 600mm (unfassbare 1200 Kleinbild-Äquivalent), die durch die Stabilisierung (insb. mit dem SyncIS des Objektivs) der z.B. OM-1 sogar noch handgehalten zu scharfen Fotos führen. Meine Lieblingslinse für Vogelfotografie aktuell.

super all round quality lens not cheap but you get what you pay for.

I bought this lens for Wildlife photography mainly. But after 6 months of using this lens I can say it has so many capabilities.. This lightweight and extremely sharp lens never leaves my OM-1. As well as fast focussing, razor sharp wide open ( I shoot wide open 90% of the time) it is outstanding for moody / foul weather mountain landscape..close up flora and fauna..portrait..the list could go on but believe me it is a absolute joy to use. I cannot fault this lens at all. Thank you Olympus for quality gear that does exactly what it is supposed to do...I would recommend this lens happily..
