Battery charger works great. The price is absolutely INSANE ! ! ! I got my OM-1 used and the reason I picked the one I did was because it came with a charger. This camera absolutely needs a charger and a second battery. The fact a charger is not normally included with purchase, or at least the fact it cost so much is insulting !

So you have to either pay $150 + tax + shipping for a charger, that should be bundled with the camera in the first place, or not use your camera while in-camera charging is going on. Who came up with this genius idea? I hope the cheaper 3rd party chargers can handle the Oly BLX-1 batteries or I'm going to return the camera that I just bought and only then found this little money gouging ploy!

I purchased the new OM SYSTEM OM-1 Mark II Mirrorless Camera for $2399.99 on April 19, 2024 . At the same time I purchased the OM SYSTEM BCX-1 Lithium-Ion Battery Charger $149.00 & OM SYSTEM BLX-1 Lithium-Ion Battery (7.2V, 2280mAh) $99.00. Prior to this camera, I’ve enjoyed using the Olympus OMD-EM1 Mark II Mirrorless camera for the past five years. I have no issue with the $2399.99 price tag of the camera but I do have an issue with the pricing of the battery charger and battery. 1st- I haven’t in the past nor will I ever in the future charge batteries by plugging into the camera. That is NOT a good or convenient option especially when traveling. 2nd- the size of the battery charger is too large and bulky particularly when packing for travel; not to mention the bulkiness of the USB Connection cable and USB –AC Adaptor. I fully realize the size allows for two batteries to be charged but honestly in no way is that an appealing feature to me. Size and convenience for packing is what is important. 3rd- the $149.00 price for the charger and $99.00 for the battery is outrageous. Yes the battery is on sale for $79.00 on your website but with tax/shipping the price is still close to $99.00. Nickel & diming your customers for a needed accessory is not only disappointing but dishonorable in my view.

It is an outrage to charge $150 for an important component that can be produced for a few dollars and should be included with every OM-1.

Works well as a charger. Charging 2 batteries at the same time is great. But, expensive and no leads ship with the unit. Should ship with the camera, or be half the price. Having to plug the camera in to charge it isn't great for a camera perfect for travel. Hence 3 stars.

Great quality. I gave 5 stars. But it's just a battery charger, where other makers included some kind of charger for free. I don't see the value or marketing reasoning for Olympus to charge additional $150!
