A must have lens for your workflow

I have a number of OM lenses and I find this lens to be the one I pick over 50% of the time when shooting landscapes, night sky's, and closeup portraits of people and animals. The 2.8 aperture works well in low light and helps give me the bokeh I desire in many of my shots. I would definitely recommend it as an extra creative tool in your camera bag.

Great for stills / Stiff zoom ring

The five star rating is for still photos. This lens was mounted onto my OM-D E-M1X and stayed on since. This lens is a very versatile fast (f/2.8) zoom lens with focal length range good for wide landscapes to portraits. It works well for both indoors and outdoors shoots. Sharpness and colour reproduction are accurate. For still photos there aren't any issues. There might be a small issue with videos. With my particular unit, I find the zoom ring somewhat stiff. The stiffness might be from the weather seal. At some point of the rotation of this ring, a slight sound can be heard while rotating. Maybe a "break in" period is needed. Videos aren't my thing. However, this sound from the zoom ring could be a disturbance for those who do.

I've replaced my Canon R5 and Canon 24-105 f4 with the OM-5 Mark II and the M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm F2.8 PRO II for my travel kit. I love the size and weight savings this kit offers. The lens is superb and an excellent replacement for the Canon. This lens isn't quite as long, but the f2.8 makes it more versatile. The optics are excellent.

Stunning image quality. Easy to carry everywhere everyday, extremely versatile piece of equipment, and at f2.8 very sharp and bright images. Very solid build, quality, weather sealed manual focus clutch, very fast auto focus when needed +++ I am happy I purchased this one.

I have not had this 12-40 pro for long now, but I can say I love it so far. Only complaint is the weight. Sharpest lens I have ever shot with! You can feel the quality just holding it. Start clicking the shutter and you will see the quality.
