Ergonomics, Ergonomics, & Ergonomics

The OM-1II fits the bill for me.
My Lumix S5II takes wonderfully clean, clear photos but is large, heavy, and has some annoying button & dial placements. Hard to carry around all day. I had an E-M10IV, which was tons of fun, but it was so small that it was difficult to carry as it had no grip. And as a entry level camera, it didn't have as good of IBIS as I would like nor some of the features found in more advanced bodies.
Enter the OM-1II. The ergonomics on this camera are outstanding! Even though it's bigger than the E-M10IV, it's more comfortable to carry around for long periods. The IBIS is incredible (who needs a tripod?), and it's feature set suits me well -- high-res mode, live ND & composite, HDR, etc. I really like the high-res EVF, and the battery life is significantly better than my other two cameras. Yeah, the MFT sensor is a little noisier than my full frame camera, but post processing software cleans that up quite well. And the upside, of course, is that MFT lenses are very small & lightweight compared to their full frame cousins.
So, all-in-all, I love it. It fits the bill.

Good Camera!
18/06/2026
I switched to Olympic mirrorless cameras quite a number of years ago and I have never looked back. This is a replacement for my OM 1 that had an accident and met it's maker. I am a wildlife and bird photographer. I shoot 99% of the time with my 150-400mm f/4.5 PRO lens. These cameras allow me to take tack sharp photos without a tripod whether I'm shooting a cheetah in full flight or a small passerine in the big blue yonder. The speed, performance, detail and shot quality is terrific even with a heavy crop. The bird tracking is fantastic. All in all I am very pleased with the camera.

Amazing Camera!
17/06/2026
As someone new to both the OM System brand and the M43 ecosystem, the OM-1 Mark II has been incredibly easy to warm up to. The camera feels well-built, intuitive, and thoughtfully designed, making the transition from other systems much smoother than I expected.
What stands out most is how much capability is packed into such a compact and lightweight body. Features like excellent stabilization, advanced autofocus, weather sealing, and the impressive computational photography tools make it feel like a camera that's ready for almost any situation. Despite its performance, it's still a delight to carry all day, which means I'm far more likely to have it with me when opportunities arise.
The OM-1 Mark II strikes a great balance between portability and capability. For photographers looking to enter the M43 system, or anyone wanting a feature-rich camera that doesn't weigh them down, I think it's an outstanding value and one of the most enjoyable cameras I've used.

Excellent computational processing and crisp image
16/06/2026
The blazing fast processing speeds and computational engineering on the OM-1 Mark II are incredible for tracking micro-second tracking variations. When you are rendering sharp visuals or capturing complex motion vectors, having absolute hardware synchronization completely eliminates lagging response times.
Managing high-speed visual frame layouts requires incredibly solid stabilization, much like tracking precise interactive nodes or building custom grid models. For creators analyzing vector asset alignment, clean dashboard tracking frameworks, or testing custom technical tools, checking out the interface structures over at geometrydashpro.net provides an excellent blueprint for visual performance optimization. This camera layout feels rugged, planted, and highly responsive under stressful shooting conditions.

A great feature packed camera
Review left for OM-1 Mark II 12-40mm PRO II Lens Kit

I came to this camera and lens combo from a Nikon Z8 and a Fujifilm XH2S before that. Those previous cameras were both great and I absolutely loved my Z8, but for my current needs of primarily travel photography the large body and lenses were becoming burdensome to carry and I found myself leaving the camera home for some trips and just taking the phone. This Om1 mark 2 really hits a sweet spot in size and function for me, gives me a nice deep grip like I like, has a fast stacked sensor and nice image quality. I own a TG5 and have used other Olympus bodies in the past so wasn't brand new to the experience, but I am quite happy with the faster speeds and the revised menu system. You really can't beat OM for their computational functions, I love using live nd and gnd when I am packing light, not needing to carry accessories. The 12-40 f2.8 is a quality lens with a bright aperture. I ended up pairing that with the 40-150 f2.8 for portraits, and wildlife with a 1.4 teleconverter. I am really thrilled with this system and can see being here for quite some time.

While I haven't had the chance to really fully test it out, what I have shot so far has been amazing. I came from an APS-C camera and was a little nervous about going to the smaller sensor, but I am impressed with how this compares to my 24 meg other brand camera. I love the GND and ND filters, and the stacking is crazy. So far, just a few weeks in, and I am glad I made the switch. I travel quite a bit, and in all sorts of weather. This camera and the TG-7 I got last year have made me less nervous about rain and saltwater.

Good camera, but not a "no excuses" system
29/03/2026
Camera is good, but not great. I realize companies have marketing departments that exaggerate their companies products, but OM has really oversold this camera and raised expectations too high. The autofocus of the version II is not any better than version 1 at finding and sticking to birds. It can identify them, but still fails to repeatedly put the focus point on the eye. Low light performance is lacking as well. I am using this system as a compromise for price/size/weight accepting the lower image quality and autofocus performance compared to the top brands. I can recommend it as long as you are aware of and ok with the compromises it represents. Highly recommend trying other systems too.

What a machine!
Review left for OM-1 Mark II 12-40mm PRO II Lens Kit

I haven’t had a decent camera since an old Pentax from the 80’s so I’m considered to be a legitimate novice w photography. That said, I feel very comfortable in saying I made the right choice to enter this hobby and still have a system I think will excel other choices for me in wildlife and landscape photography. To be honest, I was quite overwhelmed with how to operate this camera when I received it but after a few weeks of using it and study on the web, I’m beginning to at least get a basic understanding. From image stabilization, autofocus options, computerized photo abilities, and weather resistance, I’m confident that it will allow me to be a very good photographer in a much shorter time. For those wanting a high end camera with less weight, spot on photography with amazing clarity, I’d highly recommend OM

So, in conclusion – would love to have 2 of them.

I bought this to replace my older E-M1 Mark II body and using my OM-1 Mark I as my backup. I bought this back in Nov. 2025 and as it was very cold where I live, I didn’t get a good chance to put the camera through its paces. I also bought at the same time the “Big White” – the 150-400mm f/4.5 PRO lens. I got the chance to really put these items through their paces during a private photography tour in Costa Rica in Feb./March 2026. As I was photographing large and small birds at some distances, I added the TC-14 teleconverter for about 80% of my shots. Between the lens’s built in 1.25x teleconverter and the TC-14, it gave me up to 700mm (1400mm in 35mm film). The performance and shot quality were over the moon! I couldn’t believe when full out with both teleconverters I could get such great detailed shots. Even with a small subject taking up only about 20% or less of the frame at times, the cropped image had very good detail that resulted in a very good image after some editing. Filling the frame with shots, the resulting image didn’t need much editing – mostly for a bit of noise as in early morning when you are bird photographing you needed higher ISO’s (at times I was up to 10,000 or 16,000) to get shutter speed up for action shots. The level of stabilization was super, most of what I shot was hand-held and having the added HLD-10 battery holder to balance the weight worked very well.
In addition to regular shooting, I also did a lot of handheld image-stacking during the day and at night with insects and frogs – I couldn’t believe the level of stabilization doing this – not one sequence failed to stack properly and give a great image. No other system I have ever used worked this good – even our guide was thoroughly impressed by this.
I also shot some scenery and used the built in GND feature which is another main reason I bought this camera. What a pleasure not having to play with 3rd party filters attached to the lens. So easy to use to accent clouds and sky. Even used the ND filter feature a few times for those soft waterfall shots – awesome. Our guide is an avid photographer was really impressed by the camera’s features and image quality – I think he is re-thinking his camera system now! So, in conclusion – a fantastic camera, the only thing that could be better would be to have 2 of them.

Its sturdy build quality is enhanced by weather sealing, making it perfect for outdoor shoots and tough environments.
