Has me shooting more than ever

I've had my OM-5 II for a few months now, and it has far exceeded my expectations. Even with all the research I did before purchasing it, I just didn't expect the image quality to be this good (especially when paired with PRO glass). This thing is super sharp, consistently nails focus, has unbelievable image stabilization, and offers tons of programmable and computational features. Somehow, it manages to feel both premium and durable while also being incredibly lightweight. I do have other camera systems and I bought the OM-5 II to have a high-quality, lightweight camera for casual shooting. However, I've reached the point where I just grab my OM-5 II every time for everything. It has turned everything else into a backup camera. I'm shooting way more then before and I'm loving it.

Great upgrade from EM5

Great upgrade from my well loved EM5. The 20 MP sensor lets me crop in more, the USB-C in body charging is great and the ergonomics are much improved. I just returned from a photography trip with a friend who is using full sized gear, and I have to say that there is no way I could use a 300 mm zoom lens on a full sized camera and not have serious neck and shoulder pain at the end of the day. I use the OM system 12-40mm f2.8 pro and the 40-150mm f4 pro lenses and it's perfect for travel. I have effectively 24mm to 300mm with this set up, and it is light enough to hike with.

Great small camera with tons of features

I am liking this camera so far. I purchased it from Henry’s as a kit with an M.Zuiko Digital 14-150mm F4-5.6 II lens. It is a big improvement over my old Lumix cameras (G1 and GH1). The Mark 5 is lighter, has higher resolution sensor (20MP) and lots of features (so many, I am still learning!). I especially love the 30fps silent burst mode. The auto-ISO option for shooting in variable conditions is very useful. And I like the WiFi/Bluetooth connectivity, especially for downloading photos for posting with other devices. The downside is that WiFi/Bluetooth uses a lot of power, so it should only be used for limited time or extra battery is required. I have run into a few issues so far. First thing I noticed was that the eyecup on the viewfinder is loose. It wiggles! I initially thought it was the whole view finder, but now realize it is just the eyecup. So not a serious as originally thought. The second issue is more significant. The battery life is short, even when not using WiFi/Bluetooth. My first accessory purchase will have to be a spare battery and charger! I was looking forward to trying focus stacking with this camera, but now realize this requires an OM Pro series lens. I fear other modes such as Live ND shooting will require Pro series lenses as well. This limitation wasn’t clearly stated at the time of purchase and should have been. One design criticism I have is the placement of the Computational Photography (CP) and the Movie buttons. Their positions should be swapped. The Movie button should be moved forward so it is more accessible. I am far more likely to use it and find it is somewhat hidden in its current position. Despite these issues, I do like this camera! Once I figure out all that it has to offer, I’m sure I’ll like it even more.

A very competent, small and light camera.

A surprisingly competent camera that is both light, small and easy to use by people interested in photography. Features and functions in this camera allow it to be usable both by the user that is new to using a dedicated camera and the experienced user. Output in JPG are remarkably good and the RAW files provide all the information needed to produce superb results. This is a beautifully made, compact camera that will be the camera you have with you. Pros: 1. Small size and light. 2. Excellent handling. 3. Excellent SOOC results. 4. Comprehensive features and functions suitable for the beginner and expert. 5. Weather sealed. 6. Nice quality build. 7. Benefit of MFT allowing smaller lenses with longer reach. 8. Excellent DOF even with the lens wide open makes focusing easier. Cons: 1. MFT sized sensor requires careful use in low light. 2. Autofocus acquisition can be slow. 3. JPGs and RAW mixed in the same directory on the SD Card 4. Battery life a little short. 5. Very expensive batteries.

Best travel/street/wildlife and EDC camera bar

The OM-5 MKII is powerhouse in a tiny body. Forget what you’ve been told about small sensors and travel cameras. This camera is small but comfortable to use, super ergonomic with buttons to customize everywhere. The sensor is great in low light up to 6400 ISO and the colors, well the colors are vibrant and tru to life. Nice grip, nice size, fast AF and most importantly great IQ. Tons of CP options some of them borrowed from its big brothers. I shot street, wildlife and travel and a bit of macro with it and honestly I didn’t see any issues. It would’ve been 5 stars if the ON/OFF button was in the right side (pro tip, you can use the multifunction 1/2 switch to have it on your thumb side). Love it and you will to.

I really like the size and weight. The new menu system is a good improvement as is the greater processing power. Overall it is a great carry around camera. Of course the image stabilization that the camera has is fantastic.

Wow, what a fun camera. I've been a Cannon guy for a while but find myself using my phone most of the time because the Canon set up is a lot to bring on a hike or bike ride. I'm really impressed with the quality of the OM-5 and 14-150mm super zoom. Fun stuff, and so easy to use.

I really like this camera. It has a ton of features that I am still learning about and it takes really good photos even just in auto mode. I have only had this camera for a short time and there still is a lot to learn about it. The camera is small and light weight its actually so small it feels a little awkward to hold in my hand but I am adjusting to it relatively well. My only complaint is the camera strap and the fact it didn't come with instructions on how to properly setup the strap. I almost dropped my camera because I didn't set up the strap correctly. Other than that its really good.

I bought this a sidekick to my Om1 II and I find it is exactly what ineed to take on short trips. I already had to 12-100 f4 lens and the two go together very well. Having the OS system as the same as the OM1 II makes a big difference since I've already set many things to my taste. The size is perfect for travel with the single lens. I recently took it to Niagara Falls with the falls overspray (water and ice) getting onto the camera. Having the confidence of OM weather tolerance made making photos easier.

I've replaced my Canon R5 and Canon 24-105 f4 with the OM-5 Mark II and the M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm F2.8 PRO II for my travel kit. I love the size and weight savings this kit offers. The OM-5 Mark II is really an exceptional body, small, light, and very well built. It has great features without bogging down the menus like a Sony. I'm loving this camera.
